Description

This scrapbook is a collection of newspaper clippings of events related to North Carolina A&T State University between September 1937 and October 1940. Notable highlights include the development and approval of new campus buildings, which include the Dudley Auditorium. Numerous speakers to campus during this time included Dudley High School principal Dr. John Tarpley, writer George Schuyler and Guilford College Dean, the Rev. A.D. Beittel. Macy's pioneering puppeteer Tony Sarg and contralto/actress Etta Moten (Barnett) are among many visiting performers. Fundraisers, meetings, concerts, conferences, the Aggie Football season, the creation of the aviation program and state high school debates hosted on the campus are also to be rediscovered in this volume.
