Description

Episode of Down Yonder in which Art Rosenbaum visits the McIntosh County Shouters in McIntosh County, Georgia, and discusses the tradition of shouting, a religious dance that started with African slaves. The McIntosh County Shouters demonstrate shouting with voice-over from Rosenbaum explaining the history behind the ring-shout dance. Shouters Lawrence McKiver, Oneitha Ellison, and Odessa Young further discuss the history and technique of the song and dance. Deacon Jim Cook also discusses growing up with shouting.
