Description

Agnes Hildebrand Wilson (Burgess) is interviewed about student demonstrations saying, "violence is against all that an educational institution stands for." She states that students should be allowed to protest peacefully and meaningfully. Responding to a question about how students should be reprimanded, she suggests a "positive approach" over reprimand. Wilson was the first African-American woman to be named South Carolina Teacher of the Year (1968), and was also named a National Honor Roll Teacher in late April 1969. Footage dated April 25-30, 1969. Remarks may possibly related to the student takeover of Voorhees College on April 28.
