Mack writes William Lloyd Garrison requesting that he provide to her a loan of the funds necessary to attend "one of our higher institutions" for a year so that she might improve her station and usefullness, describing how the "low renumeration" of her position teaching in common schools obliges her to better herself. Mack states that she has no father or brother to turn to on the matter, and therefore addresses Garrison with her call for aid. Mack additionally forwards to Garrison's consideration an article for the Liberator
