Hartford NAACP Former President Dr. Sedrick Rawlins discusses his experience with the Hartford NAACP starting in the early 1960's. He talks about how his upbringing and life experiences led to his work with the organization. He talks about his military experience as a pilot, being a student at the Lincoln University College, and the discrimation he experienced in the 1940's and 50's prior to his work with the NAACP and opening up a dental practice in Connecticut. He mentions figures Arthur Johnson, C. Roy Jackson, Wilbur Smith, George Ritter, Matt Ritter, Tom Ritter, Percy Christian, Ella Cromwell, Robert Smith, Martha-Rea Nelson, the Seymours, and his wife, Alice Rawlins. He talks about his work with University of Connecticut and being one of the founders of the UCONN Health Center. He also mentions the Hartford Ministerial Alliance, Connecticut State Board of Parole, and Connecticare.
