YMCA of the USA

Description

This folder contains materials documenting state level work of the YMCA. Within a few years of the establishment of YMCA work at the national level, it became clear that a single organization for the entire United States and Canada could not meet the needs of local associations for ""mutual conference and discussion."" This folder specifically includes, among a variety of earlier pamphlets on Y.M.C.A policy and segregated ""Whites-only"" Y.M.C.As, an issue of ""The Annotator; Comments on Policies and Practices of the World-Wide Association Movement"" written by Dr. J. Edward Perry, the leader of the Paseo Department of the Kansas City Y.M.C.A., which primarily served the African American community.
