Wydenia Shiffon-Perry was born in 1945. Essie E. Gregory was born in 1949. They have traveled to over 125 countries over 37 years as travel companions. In this interview, they discuss their trips to Fiji, Tahiti, China, and the Middle East. Wydenia and Essie brought a script to this interview, and read from it for much of the recording. They recall the cruises and tours they participated in, with each other and their relatives. One of the countries they visited was Russia, at the end of the Cold War. They saw Lenin’s body, before it was taken from display and shipped back to his hometown. They were in Russia when Leningrad changed back to St. Petersburg. They traveled to a festival called Pan Fest in Africa in 1998. They were nearly arrested in China and in Egypt for taking photos. In addition to traveling in their leisure time, they traveled as youth missionaries for their church.
