Holograph, signedTitle devised by catalogerManuscript annotated on recto, with "36" appearing in pencil above Needles's salutation to Garrison, and "Garrison MSS." stamped in blue ink beneath the dateManuscript dated " 3mo 22. 1842"Manuscript addressed on verso to "William Loyd Garrison Boston."Edward Needles assures William Lloyd Garrison that although the progress of the abolitionist cause may "appear to be very slow", he is possessed of a "holy confidence" that their work will be completed faster than they may expect, pointing to the rise of abolitionist and temperance belief within the religious community at large as a sign of their labor's progress
