Description

Burge purchased the slave, woman named Mary Ann, for $400 on November 25, 1815. On the back of the receipt are three further transactions involving Mary Ann: first, she was transferred to John Butterworth on April 6, 1818; then she was sold to Green Wood for $500, also on April 6; and then she was given to Bolling Hall on May 20.
