Description

Civil Rights marches and arrests--contains materials edited together from different events filmed in 1963. Students, including students from Wilkinson High School (Orangeburg, South Carolina), gather at an area church during the evening. Singing "We shall not be moved," they progress into the church. Present also are civil rights leaders from the region including I. DeQuincey Newman. Next sequence shows young men and women marching under police supervision in Orangeburg to the area jail. Next sequence is taken at Manning Correctional Institution (Columbia, South Carolina). College aged men are being processed into the jail. Interior scenes with sound show the presences of high school aged young men.
