Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee

Description

The first third of this folder is primarily composed of pamphlets, magazine articles, and newspaper clippings depicting the type of work SNCC was carrying out in its voter registration programs and the resistance it faced in the South as a result of these efforts. Filling out the folder's middle are reports on: "The General Condition of the Alabama Negro;" the voting records of Mississippi congressmen; Julian Bond's Electoral Campaign; and "Yazoo County, Mississippi." Position and working papers become more prominent toward the end of the folder. The topics covered within these include: determining the future direction of SNCC; ways to combat disorder within the organization; options for training staff; and ways to organize on southern campuses.
