Description
In the message Lee criticizes the dismissal of Dr. Lawrence D. Reddick from Alabama State College, and he defends the actions of the demonstrators: "Governor Patterson should not give credit to the Communist for the American ideals which have been protrayed [sic] by the students in their non-violent demonstration against segregation. If such actions and attitudes are to be continued on the part of the governor and the state board of education it will leave us (the executive committee) with no other alternative than to encourage the student body of Alabama State College to proceed toward mass withdrawal and exercise the right to enroll at other Alabama state tax supported school [sic], colleges and universities." A handwritten note at the bottom says, "This was one of the agitators who was expelled."
