Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.George Thompson writes to George William Benson in regards to thanking the "friends in R.I." for a gracious welcome to Providence. He praises the Providence anti-slavery society for their noble engagements in the cause. He wishes he could visit R.I. but he won't be able to until "the time mentioned for your Annual meeting." He writes that he "will be with you, and shall be happy to confer with the Committee in reference to the best means of awakening the citizens of your state to the true merits of the question & their own duty and responsibility in relation thereto." He attended and delivered several addresses at a County Convention in Groten, Mass[achusetts] which lasted two days. He also delivered a lecture in Lowell, Massachusetts. He hopes he will be able to attend the Convention in Maine the following week. He is currently staying with William Lloyd Garrison.
