Nov. 14, 1953 Reel 175 Item 10 I Don't Want No Yellow Coon I'se a bit in love with a big, black, bell, who give to me the mit, When I asked her to be my big, black, belle, she's sure to answer nit, I dressed up in the latest style, I courts her every day, But she says that I'm not black enough, and then she'll up and say, REFRAIN I don't want no yellow coon, a'pesterin' after me, For de coon dat gits this turtle-dove, must be black as black can be, I won't be your lady-love, ay goodness, but you're alow, I don't want no yellow coon, just take the hint and go. I buyed her heaps of presents, I tried to win her back, I taken her to a funeral Around here, in a team and open hack, But when I hints of a wedding, she proudly turns away, And when I trys to steal a kiss, she's always sure to say, REFRAIN One night I went to see her, she met me at the door, And said, I don't want no half-white trash to fool around me no more, I stepped into the parlor, since then I've took to drink, For there sat a coal-black nigger, with his face as black as ink.
