Description

On November 29, 1963, President Johnson spent much of the day on the telephone speaking with members of Congress and others. He made numerous calls regarding the formation of the Warren Commission. In the morning he met with the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Cabinet Room, and with Secretary of State Dean Rusk, Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, CIA Director John McCone, and National Security Advisor McGeorge Bundy in the Oval Office. At 4:30 p.m., Chief Justice Earl Warren met with the President. Later in the afternoon, Johnson met with Foreign Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto of Pakistan in the Oval Office, and following the meeting with Bhutto, he met with Defense Minister Abdul Haris Nasution of Indonesia in the Oval Office.
