Description
Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Elizabeth Niles writes to William Lloyd Garrison inviting him to speak to the Abington Female Anti-Slavery Society at their next quartlery meeting. Niles reports that the vote to invite Garrison was almost unanimous, with the exception of "Mrs. Ward" who said "that if we persisted in sending for you, she must withdraw from the meeting." She adds that her family, "Rev. Ward the Clergyman of this Society, and his father Rev. Jonathan Ward, both Abolitionists, discover their hostility to the slave by their bitter opposition to you." Niles also says that the Society would like to pay his traveling expenses and they "most ernestly request you Sir to meet us. We very much need your help."
