Description

This folder consists of October 1964 WATS line messages. It includes lots of arrests, bombings, beatings, church burnings, cross burnings, suspicious cars, and accounts of surveillance and harassment by the police. There are a number of accounts of attempts to integrate white schools as well as boycotts by student. Attempts to integrate restaurants are described. A campaign event by Victoria Gray, MFDP candidate in the Freedom Vote, and instances of harrassment and arrest of canvassers and people distributing literature for the Freedom Vote are also described. Complaints are made regarding the Jackson COFO office bouncing several checks. The murder of Albert Morgan and the questionable death of Ollie Young are noted.
