Description
In 2007, Debbie Conway was elected to be the Clark County Recorder. She is the first African American to hold that position in Clark County as well as the state of Nevada. For over two decades, Debbie has served the public in various roles, including: Clark County’s Business Development Manager, co-founder of the Summer Business Institute, and producer/host of an economics talk show on KCEP radio. A native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Debbie was raised there during the Civil Rights Era. Her parents, a plumber and domestic worker, stressed education as a means to bettering herself and she earned degrees at Jackson State University, Saginaw Valley State College and Delta State University. After living in Chicago and working in management at AVON, she moved to Las Vegas in 1989. Her first position was as a trainer at Levi Strauss in Henderson, though she soon found her niche in the public sector.
