Plaque.This metal plaque was manufactured in Macon, Georgia, in 1919, and was installed at a railroad waiting room along the Cotton Belt Route. The Cotton Belt Route was actually the St. Louis Southwestern Railway, which ran through Arkansas, Illinois, Louisiana, and Texas from 1891 to 1992. This plaque was donated to the Tubman African American Museum by Joan C. Browning, who collected it as a participant of the Freedom Rides in the 1960s.Gift of Joan C. Browning to the Tubman African American Museum.
