Duke (mate)RIVERS: Missouri RiverOTHER INFORMATION: Ways - 5817; First home port, St. Louis, Missouri. She was built for the upper river trade and cleared $60,000 on her first trip to Fort Benton. For that trip she left St. Louis on March 27, 1866 and returned on June 17. C.J. Atkins was the pilot, making $800 per month. She once made two round trips from St. Louis to Fort Benton in one year. She was the only boat that made two round trips. She was bound for the Red River with a heavy cargo when she was wrecked at Grand Tower, Illinois in April 1873
