Description of the photograph reads, “J & L Float in City of Pittsburgh Sesqui-Centennial Fete, October 1, 1908. The float represented a Bessemer Cupola, flame in color, and the canopy represented slag. J & L South Side workers participated. Man with hand on front of float - Thomas Spratt, S.S. Stable Manager. Behind him, William Albright, and at right, Mr. Spratt’s blacksmith along in case of trouble with wagon. Colored man in center of team, Mr. Burk, still working for J & L. By horse next to wagon is Max Klinger, still living. Others unknown.”
