Description
In the interview, William Weaver describes his childhood and education in Florida. He attended graduate school in Rochester, NY and moved to Atlanta in 1953. He recalls his first homosexual experience in his teens and accepting his sexuality. Mr. Weaver also talks about his partner, Doug Johnson, and the evolution of their relationship. Mr. Weaver describes most relatioships in the 1950s and 1960s were private and most social gatherings took place in private settings.Bill Weaver grew up in Portsmouth, Virginia during World War II. His father worked at the Norfolk Navy Yard and his mother was an electrologist. He attended the University of Florida and Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. He and his partner met at the University of Florida and have been a couple since 1953.
