General view of Jeanette Clarke, employee at New York City's Fordham Hospital, using a Perkin-Elmer Model 403 Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer to measure the lead content in a sample of blood. Per notations accompanying the photograph, Clarke is seen inserting a drop of blood into the flame of the spectrophotometer, part of a city-wide initiative to screen children between the ages of 1 and 5 for lead poisoning.
