Description
Mr. Harry Briggs is interviewed about his involvement in the Clarendon County school desegregation suit (Briggs v. Elliott). The suit was later incorporated into Brown v. Board of Education. Mr. Briggs says initial interest was in getting better schools, not integration. Speaks on life in Summerton and Manning in the early 1950s including the loss of his job. Says he had to leave in 1953 to find work. Speaks on his reaction to the 1954 "Brown v. Board of Education" decision (poor audio due to magnetic soundtrack stripe stripping).
