Description

Holograph, signedTitle devised by catalogerSamuel May, Jr. forwards to William Lloyd Garrison's attention an edition of the New York Evening Post containing a "notice of H. Martineau's autobiog.", which he wishes Garrison to review. May states that the notice in the Post is "in such contrast" to that which appeared in the Boston Daily Advertiser, which "had in it a large infection of the old Boston rancor" against Martineau. May asserts that these "kicks at dead lions" such as Martineau, Theodore Parker, and Joseph Cook, are "contemptible" in his eyes
