Description

In this series of WSB newsfilm clips from Cobb County, Georgia on January 17, 1979, law enforcement personnel comment on the manhunt for escaped fugitive Raymond Lee Franklin.The clips begin with various shots of a parking lot next to a brick building. Cars are parked in the lot and unidentified black and white males, some in police uniforms, walk around the parked cars and appear to have conversations, although their voices are not audible. Next the clips cut to a brief shot of a helicopter, and then to a shot of an unidentified white male and an unidentified reporter. From off camera, a male voice says, "I had heard a report, we were listening to the monitors, that they believe he's traveling barefoot, is that right?" The unidentified white male says, "He's had to get some shoes somewhere, we found the jail shoes, apparently, rubber flip flops, jail shoes, unless he's picked up some shoes somewhere -- " The unidentified male reporter says, "He's traveling barefoot." The unidentified white male interviewee says, "He's traveling barefoot right now." From off camera, another unidentified male voice says something unintelligible and the interviewee's response is also unintelligible. The unidentified male reporter says, "Your best guess: is he laying low or is he moving?" The unidentified white male interviewee says, "It's hard to guess these guys, let me tell you, its almost impossible to -- we have no reason to believe that he's gotten out of the area we believe he's probably - "...
