Description
Loraine Despres discusses her book, “The Bad Behavior of Belle Cantrell.” She begins by discussing the main character of the book, Belle Cantrell. She explains that the book takes place in Louisiana where Belle tries very hard to be a proper lady, but keeps getting into trouble despite her best efforts. Despres goes on to discuss the role that race and ethnicity plays in the book, particularly with the African American and Jewish characters. Later in the interview she explores some of her other books and how the characters, plots, and settings all intertwine.
