Description
Bill of sale dated November 8, 1858 for a Negro slave named Andrew sold by Jonathan Waters to Jonathan Marriott, both of Howard County, Maryland. The sale is in the amount of $325. Witnessed by Emma Jones and Justice of the Peace Thomas J. White on November 8 and recorded by Howard County clerk W. W. Watkins on November 11, the document identifies Andrew as a Negro boy age 17 years (on June 9, 1858) whose term of service is to last until he reaches age 31 years, when he is to be set free, based on a previous deed of manumission dated November 18, 1852 and recorded among Howard County records in liber E. P. H. number 2 folio 428.
