Description

David Kauffman discusses working as a smokejumper during World War Two due to his conscientious objector status. He describes the training and the attitudes of the conscientious objectors, and he recalls working with the African American 555th Parachute Infantry Battalion. Kauffman also relates a conversation he had with Wag Dodge about the 1949 Mann Gulch Fire.
