The group are friends from Polytechnic High School summer school and gathered for house parties on the weekend. Often the friends would travel to school together in the one-seat car with up to five girls inside and several outside on the running board, until they were stopped by a police officer. The friends usually went to Ink Well beach in Santa Monica after school, and also used the car to visit friends in the days before radio.
