Description
This letter was written in Old Calabar, Nigeria by King Eyamba V to Captain William Turner in Liverpool, England. The relationship between Eyamba and Captain Turner developed as a result of the British banned slave trade. The letter, or note, is an undated ledger sheet appearing to list goods advanced to several Old Calabar chiefs. Some of the names listed include: Duke Ephraim, Henshaw Duke, Mr. Young, Egbo Jack, John Duke, Tom Eyo, and Eyamaba.
