This political club, organized in 1876, expressed support for the Emancipation Proclamation and the civil rights bill drafted by Charles Sumner. Entries in the Republican Club's minute book are dated from the organization's founding, on June 22, 1876, to July 6, 1876, and discuss the election of club members and delegates to the Republican National Convention.
