Description

Dannie Walter Burnett grew up in Ely Nevada, and after graduating high school in 1948 he joined the Army, serving in Fort Sill Oklahoma and in Germany. After being discharged, he obtained a masters degree in business management from the U of U, and worked at Hercules Incorporated for many years. He had experienced some degree of racism his entire life, and became active in civil rights demonstration in college. He became the first youth president of the Salt Lake branch of the NAACP, and fought against descrimination and remained active in the NAACP until 1996.
