Description
On February 1, 1964, in Liberty, Mississippi, Louis Allen, an African American logger, was shot to death in his driveway. The previous evening, Mr. Allen had visited his employer in order to obtain a letter of recommendation as he intended to move the next day to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to seek employment as a truck driver and/or bulldozer operator. The killing of Mr. Allen has never been solved.The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.Record Contributed By
