Series of illustrated trade cards and caricatures entitled "I see nothing will suit but Laird, Schober & Mitchell's," "Too fine to blacken!" "Oh! my!!..just look at them!!!" and "How beautifully they fit," depicting jokers or clowns, including one trying to fit a shoe on a seated female fairy with wings and a wand and another jumping rope and kicking an African American shoe shiner in the rear end. Also shows men admiring the shoes of their female companions and a woman in a parlor holding up her skirt to reveal her shoes as she inspects a sign inscribed "Laird, Shober & Mitchell, Philadelphia". Laird, Schober & Mitchell was a partnership formed by Samuel S. Laird, George P. Schober and George A.
