'After 23 years of service, at my retirement party in December 1999, the first African-American general manager of the MBTA, Mr. Robert H. Prince, presented me with an authentic fare box, which is a working lamp. The fare box lamp is inscribed with my name, employee number, and dates of service. I retired as the Deputy Director of MBTA. Pictured: Beverly E. Harris, Robert H. Prince.'
