Description

Letter from Samuel Cowles in Hartford, Connecticut, to his sister Charlotte Cowles in Farmington, Connecticut. He excused his lack of writing by stating that he had been very bus establishing the anti-slavery newspaper Charter Oak. He had also suffered from a headache. He then related that a man had threatened to "stone" the newspaper office, but did not follow through.
