View
@ University of Massachusetts Boston, Joseph P. Healey Library

Description

'Mark Harvey (with trumpet in front) started a jazz ministry at the West End Church while he was a student at Boston University's School of Theology. Every Sunday he and his musician friends played jazz at Sunday service. This proved to be very popular, and he and friends organized annual all-night jazz concerts in the church. Mark Harvey is currently the leader of the Aardvark Jazz orchestra (aardvarkjazz.com). Peter Bloom continues to play with that orchestra. Mark Harvey now also composes jazz music and the CDs are available for sale on the Aardvark website. One of his pieces on the CD titled 'Impressions' is called, 'Destruction of the West End.' Location: corner of Staniford and Cambridge Streets.'
