Photograph of African American children at play on Division Street in Baltimore, Maryland. In the foreground, most of the children are standing in a circle around another child, participating in some kind of game or play activity. Their activity is being lead by two adult Works Progress Administration (W.P.A.) supervisors. Other groups of children are engaged in other activities. In the background to the left is the northeast corner of the Henry H. Garnet Elementary School, which was located on Division near Lanvale Street and contained seventeen classrooms and a library. In the background to the right are two three-story row houses. The street is closed to traffic to provide play space for the children. (Part of W.P.A. project #7012.)
