They are facing each other such that only their profiles are visible. The southern man holds a revolver in his right hand and a cat-o'-nine-tails under his arm. There is another southern gentleman shown walking away from the view, also holding a whip, and striding down a row of slaves. A tall palm tree with a cotton bale at it's base and a Confederate National Flag with six stars are to the left of the whole scene.
