Description

Loraine Despres discusses her novel, “The Scandalous Summer of Sissy LeBlanc.” She begins by explaining that her book is about a young southern belle whose family is falling apart. She talks how her main character Sissy meets a charming hunter, whom she seduces. She describes the racial segregation that was happening in Louisiana in the 1960s. Despres talks about how she moved to Louisiana like the characters in the book. She ends the interview by discussing that she was a screenwriter for many years and teaches screenwriting at the University of California at Los Angeles.
