Bishop, Francis

Description

Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Francis Bishop writes to Mary Anne Estlin regarding W.W. Brown's "judicious & well timed project. My interest in the subject of American slavery has increased rather than diminished by my removal Northward." He has not seen Mrs. Rathbone yet and communicated Mary Anne's request to her but he has written to her and will let her know the result. He writes that should Mrs. Ruthbone decline, he will send her the best names he can get as substitutes. He writes, "What a pity it is H.C. Wright..noble-minded as he is-should injure his cause by inviting so offensively! I retain great admiration for him...but many of his letters it is quite painful to me to read." He requests a few copies of Mr. Estlin's letter and is grieved to hear of his illness.
