Newspaper photograph from of Joe Thomas and Eddie Wilcox. Eddie Wilcox (1907-1968) was from Method, NC (Wake County). He attended Fisk University and was a well known jazz pianist and arranger. After the death of Jimmie Lunceford in 1947, he was the co-leader of his orchestra. The Jimmie Lunceford Orchestra came to Wilmington, NC several times, and in 1948 under Eddie Wilcox's direction they played at Lumina Pavilion. Joe Thomas (1909-1984) was a swing jazz trumpeter, one of the most popular in the 1930s. He also played in the Jimmie Lunceford Orchestra.
