Photograph of two African American boys playing a game of checkers on a sidewalk in Baltimore, Maryland, under the auspices of the Operations Division of the Works Progress Administration (W.P.A.) of Maryland. The checker board sits on top of an old cardboard box covered with various ads. Three other boys are watching the progress of the game, although the feet of other spectators can be seen off to the right. (Part of W.P.A. project #7012.)
