Dominique discusses and analyzes the Battle of Vertières, the decisive and final battle of the Haitian Revolution, in which the revolutionary army composed of former slaves defeated the French. In the aftermath of this November 18, 1803 battle, the French General Rochambeau surrendered to General Jean-Jacques Dessalines. Dominique reflects on the historical significance of this decolonization struggle as it relates to Haiti's current political situation.Jean L. Dominique analyse la bataille de Vertières, la bataille finale et décisive de la Révolution haïtienne, où l'armée révolutionnaire, composée d'anciens esclaves, vainquit l'armée française le 18 novembre 1803. Après cette bataille, le général français Rochambeau capitula devant Jean-Jacques Dessalines. Dominique médite sur l'importance historique de cette lutte pour la décolonisation et la relie à la situation politique actuelle en Haïti.
