In this letter, Assistant Secretary of the Navy Fox replies to Morris' November 22, 1864, note. Topics include the application of Commodore George Frederick Pearson, the reassignment of Commander Alexander Murray to Portsmouth, Morris' desire to join Acting Rear Admiral David Dixon Porter's attack, and other naval operations during the Civil War.
