@ Brigham Young University

Dean, Wesley

Description

When recalling history, people do not recollect or associate themselves with bad or embarrassing history; they socially reconstruct their memories to fit within established cultural expectations for the society they currently live in. Jeanne undoubtedly grew up in a racist era; however, her perceptions of race and motherhood are unique because of the influence of her black maid, Annie.
