Description

According to notes accompanying the image, the men are W. Hughes Jr., Lieutenant T. K. Means, C. W. Garmon, and W. B. Driver. A press release from the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service announced a citywide observance on September 14: "At 10:30 today all Birmingham Fire & Rescue Service fire station personnel and apparatus will stand in front of their respective stations at attention with their sirens sounding for one minute to honor and salute our citizens who were victims in the attacks on New York City, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania."
