Records collected by the Mississippi Sovereignty Commission on Tim F. Kelly. According to the records, Kelly was an identified communist and a member of San Francisco's International Longshoreman's and Warehousemen's Union. The materials indicate that Kelly spent three months in Mississippi encouraging African American agricultural workers there not to join the AFL-CIO but to form a Freedom Labor Union. The file contains an internal memorandum and an article from the Tocsin.The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
