Description
A life-long Milwaukee resident, Senator Lena Taylor is serving her second term in the Wisconsin State Senate, representing the 4th Senate District, including Wauwatosa, Glendale, and the northern portions of the City of Milwaukee, where she and her son Isaiah currently reside. Senator Taylor was first elected to political office in 2003 in the Wisconsin Assembly. In 2005, she was elected to the Wisconsin Senate, and became the thousandth senator, the twentieth woman, the fifth African-American, and only the second African-American woman to serve in that legislative body. Senator Taylor is the Senate Ranking Member of the Joint Committee on Finance, and the Ranking Member of the Joint Committee on Review of Administrative Rules and the Joint Review Committee on Criminal Penalties. She also holds a seat on the Senate Committee on Economic Development and Veterans and Military Affairs, and the Joint Legislative Council.
